This is very late, but something we've only just thought about doing.

I've done Secret Santas elsewhere for a few years with moderate success.

While this is a very late to post up now, would any one in the Forge want to particpate in a Secret Santa?

The rules are simple.  You sign up here and purchase a game or gift of roughly $5-10.  Everyone who is signed up will be randomly assigned another person to send their gift to.  It is up to you if you wish to wait to purchase your game/gift until you know who it's going to and purchase accordingly or purchase in advance.

You are free to spend more than the suggested amount, but on the proviso that you may get something back of lesser value, so we recommend sticking close to the suggested amount.

To give people a chance to sign up I was thinking of distributing names on Christmas Day for delivery on or a few days after Christmas Day.

The not so secret part about it is that you will be delivering your gift yourself either via PM, Steam, etc.

If you'd be up for this post your interest below, along with questions etc (I typed this in a bit of a hurry so hopefully it makes sense).

So long as we get a good few people I'll make sure we run this and I'll get the names sent out to you via PM on Christmas Day.

HOW TO GET WHITELISTED
Our server operates an automated whitelist, this is to try and help eliminate greifing by requiring all players on the server to be a registered member of The Forge or Earth's Elite.

In order to get added to the whitelist you will need to complete a certain field on your forum profile, you may have already done this during your registration (if signed up prior to 7th December 2019).

The field you need to complete is located under your account settings

It can take up to 30 minutes for the system to get you added to the server, the whitelist queue is processed every 15 minutes if there are users waiting to be whitelisted.

If you have been waiting for longer than 30 minutes and haven't been whitelisted after completing the Minecraft Username field under your account settings, then please contact a member of the ops team who will be able to get you added and investigate the issues with the system.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Server performs an automated restart at midnight (GMT)
• Server performs automated backups every 6 hours (Midnight, 6AM, Noon, 6PM GMT)
• Daily network/server maintenance occurs between 3AM & 9AM (GMT) every day across our server network.  There shouldn't be issues, but slightly increased pings should be expected during this time

I just wanted to quickly put out a notice about a change that has been made to the Minecraft server backups.

We have been taking daily backups of the world up until today.

We are now taking 4 backups of the world a day - 00:15, 06:00, 12:00, & 18:00 (GMT).

We used to store 48 hours worth of backups (so 2 backups of the world), we are now only storing 24 hours worth of backups on the server, however, we are now backing up those backups daily to our off site server and will be storing those for 7 days.

This means we're not only keeping backups for longer but we are also taking backups more frequently which means if something was to happen less progress will be lost.

The reason I am putting up this notice is because there will potentially be a lag causing process every 6 hours now, instead of every 24.

Daily restarts are unaffected and will continue to happen at midnight.

Any issues please let us know.

Yeah there is. If you go to your channels dashboard there should be a module about hosting. You can either have an auto host list that will host anyone on that list who is live (what I do) or you can start hosting someone at your whim by entering their username.

I can stream for you on Friday and Sunday evening. I'll be working Saturday though.

@Scott I'd be up for a 12 hour stream, but I can't do a 24 hour as I'd need time off work for it as I don't ever get 2 days off in a row without taking annual leave
